The collection of Mamluk Qur’ans was, and still is, the most splendid and resplendent. Despite the regrettable state of dispersal to which it is subjected, it will without doubt remain a living “model” (mashq) and a proof of the brilliance of the Mamluk school in Egypt and the distinctiveness of its Arabic calligraphy — beginning with the Muhaqqaq script and the Naskh script, on which I am currently conducting a series of studies to establish a more effective term: (Mamluk Naskh).
